Composition 4 Kandinsky

Kandinsky Keywords:

Composition IV is a mix of swirling colors and soaring lines.

The painting is divided strongly in the centre by two thick, black vertical lines. On the left violent motion is expressed through sharp jagged lines.
On the right all is calm with sweeping forms and color harmonies.

The dividing line is actually swords held by two red hatted cossacks. Beside them is a third white bearded cossack leaning on its purple sword. They are standing on a blue mountain.

On the left side two boats are depicted. Above the boats two more cossacks fight on
horseback. On the lower right two people lie on a hill and two priests watch on.

When Pigasso met Mootise

Once upon a time there lived a pig named Pigasso and a bull named Mootise. Pigasso was not like the other pigs, he loved to paint. Mootise was not like the other bulls, he loved to paint. But soon animals discovered their art talent and were always eager to get a painting.

“I tired of living here”, grumbled Pigasso, “I never get any peace and quiet.”
“I’m leaving”, stated Mootise, “no one ever leaves me alone”.

So both of the artists set out to find a quiet place to paint. Pigasso found a lovely farm facing the west. Mootise found a handsome farm facing the west. They both went over the road to met their new neighbour. That is how Pigasso met Mootise and how Mootise met Pigasso.

At first Pigasso and Mootise enjoyed painting together. But then things started getting really out of hand. It started one day when Pigasso shouted," you paint like a wild beast Mootise and your paintings look like colour by numbers", Mootise replied" your colors look like mud" . It was a modern day art mess!!!

They stomped back to their house gathered some wood and built a huge fence down the middle of the road.

Both artists were happy but then Mootise realized he missed Pigasso and Pigasso realized he missed Mootise. They wanted to apologize but didn’t know how. So they let their paint brushes do the talking.

When both of them were finished they ran around to each others side and began to laugh and laugh and laugh. From that day on Pigasso and Mootise were the best of friends.

That is the story of how Pigasso met Mootise.

Wahine by Robyn Kahukiwa

Intro:

Based on the Art Alive topic for this term the extension group have been making a movie and answering some questions about a famous artist and her painting. The painting is called Wahine and the artist is Robyn Kahukiwa. This was also for our marks so I've worked really hard. Please leave a comment to tell me how I've done. Hope you enjoy!!!

Reflection:

This movie wasn't exactly really fun to make but I enjoyed experimenting with the different titles and finishing touches that made the movie stand out. The thing I probably didn't do as well was continously checking the rubric. I checked a couple of times but not as often as Mrs. Tele'a expected. Overall I enjoyed making the movie. Thanks for watching!!!

Swimming Story

“When are we going swimming? How will we know what group to be in?” It was the first day of going swimming and I could not prevent myself from asking 20 questions. But finally the time came around and we set off to the pool. Miss King looked relieved, I wouldn’t need to ask any more questions now!

20 minutes later I was standing  beside the freezing pool. Shivering and shaking I slid in. “Hello”, said our swimming instructor, “today we are going to practice kicking while holding on to the board...”

Kick, kick, breathe, kick, kick, breathe. Shouting instructions to us the swimming instructor pushed us out of our comfort zone. My legs were tired but I kept going. As soon as swimming time was over we climbed out and breathlessly thanked our swimming teacher.

Talk about tiring! By the time I got out my legs felt like blocks of wood. Maybe I am exaggerating a bit but I was super tired. It really helped to practice my kicking, though. When I was in the pool I could really feel myself getting better and faster!

Even though swimming had been hard it was pretty fun. I couldn’t wait until tomorrow!

Going Swimming

Here is a poem about Going Swimming! I hope you like it!

We were going swimming,
It wasn’t off to a good start,
Because some people ran away from the class.

Miss King was angry,
Our chances were slim,
Of getting to the pool in time for our swim.

We ran to the pool,
Miss King in the lead,
Our class looked like we were in a marathon, please.

When we got to the pool,
We raced for the warm shower,
Miss King looked like we were taking an hour.

I dived into the pool,
Our swim teacher frowned,
As some boys started acting like clowns.

I kicked and I kicked,
My breathing got heavier,
Some people squashed in my lane, the more the merrier.

Swimming was over,
The girls began talking,
Miss King frowned at the clock and began walking!

Us girls had to run to catch up,
Swimming was over?
Not as much luck!

WE HAD TO DO IT AGAIN TOMMOROW!

Making Tissue Flowers

On Friday Room 13 spent a lot of time making tissue flowers. Here is a photo of what mine ending up looking like and a few sentences about what we did. Enjoy!

Strewn across the floor were pieces of ripped tissue paper,no wonder no one could find any to use!

Slowly and carefully I painted my background, being careful not to smudge any paint.

Folding the petals was an intricate process because you had to find the exact shape and it often took many tries.

Vibrant colors stared up at me from my piece of art.
